CARE Innovative Action
This CARE Action concentrates on co-operative work aimed at Innovation in ATM Research.

A workshop to start the activity took place on 14-15 March 2001 at Eurocontrol Headquarters in Brussels and was attended by more than 70 people.
A call for proposals was launched to produce a short preliminary study before the end of 2001, identifying areas for an innovative action to be started in 2002.

Out of 36 proposals, 9 proposals were selected for starting work in 2001.

These 9 studies have produced final reports with proposals for further work and the full reports can be read and downloaded through page Studies 2001.

On 24 January 2002 a CARE Innovative Action presentation session was organised at Eurocontrol Headquarters in which the project leaders presented their preliminary study and the proposal for further work. to interested persons from inside and outside Eurocontrol.

With the total budget available for each year a selection board decided to proceed with the full study for 4 project proposals identified as Projects 2002:

A paper explaining the selection process from 75 ideas to 4 selected projects was presented at the 3rd ATM 2002 Symposium in Madrid in June 2002.

CARE Innov II
Considering the success and interest of the first CARE innovative action and considering the major role the EEC shall play in the innovative research for ATM domain, EUROCONTROL started a second CARE innovation action in October 2003.

The EEC appointed a CARE Innovation Manager - Mr Marc Brochard - who is responsible for technical and administrative matters related to the CARE innovation actions and for facilitating the interfaces between them.

Proposals were invited for innovative ideas focussing on the theme of Innovative and Advanced Technologies for the ATC/ATM of the future.

Further information on the call for proposal was discussed at the EEC Innovative Research Workshop on December 11 and 12- 2003.
