Yves Lambert served as Director General of EUROCONTROL from 1994 until 2000. Yves Lambert began his career in 1961 as Head of the Civil Aviation Technical Service in Algeria, later becoming Director of OGSA, the Organisation for Aeronautical Management and Safety, in Algeria. He subsequently headed the Air Traffic Services Bureau in the French Air Navigation Directorate.

During Mr Lambert's seven years of leadership, the organisation underwent important changes: its membership doubled (15 to 30 States), two major projects – EATCHIP and CFMU – were successfully completed and a revised Convention was signed.

Another important achievement during his mandate was the adoption of the Concept of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA), allowing for a better civil-military coordination of airspace which led to significantly increased airspace capacity across the continent.

Yves LAMBERT served as Director General of EUROCONTROL from 1994 until 2000.

Yves Lambert began his career in 1961 as Head of the Civil Aviation Technical Service in Algeria, later becoming Director of OGSA, the Organisation for Aeronautical Management and Safety, in Algeria. He subsequently headed the Air Traffic Services Bureau in the French Air Navigation Directorate.

After having served as the Technical Adviser on the French Transport Minister’s staff, he represented France on the ICAO Council in Montreal, Canada.

From 1976 to 1988, he was ICAO’s Secretary General, moving from there to become Director of Air Navigation in his native country, a post he held from 1989 until 1993.

Yves Lambert holds several decorations: he is an Officier de la Légion d’Honneur; an Officier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and has been awarded the Médaille de l’Aéronautique.

In 1997, he was presented with the Air Traffic Control Association’s prestigious Glen Gilbert Award for his outstanding contribution to Air Traffic Control.

Yves Lambert is a member of the French Air and Space Academy and a Fellow of the British Royal Aeronautical Society.
