Jean Lévêque became Director General of EUROCONTROL in 1978, replacing Mr Bulin.

Mr Lévêque was responsible for overseeing the development of the Upper Area Control Centre (UAC) at Shannon, which was declared operational in 1978. Much of the technology and many practices developed for the Maastricht and Karlsruhe UACs were transferred to Shannon.
