Network operations management

An efficient management of the network opeartions is key in delivering performance and ensuring the overall safety of the ATM system.

Our main objective is to deliver the performance targets of the Single European Sky and to enable the seamless integration of network-wide airspace design and airports.

To ensure the efficient management of the network operations, we:

• run flow management activities which allow us to build the European Aeronautical Database (EAD);
• improve safety through the harmonisation of safety management principles, safety improvement initiatives, sharing of best practice and learning from incidents;
• perform operations, capacity, and airspace utilisation planning;
• support the implementation of the functional airspace blocks (FABs);
• enable aeronautical, airspace and flight data management and sharing;
• collect, compile and evaluate local, regional and network performance plans;
• identify and propose remedial actions to operational hotspots;
• strengthen the ongoing evolution of existing network operations functions;
• ensure the integration of military requirements into network planning.
