ICAO Flight Planning modifications for 2012 - Training

Are you ready for ICAO 2012 flight plan changes?

The EUROCONTROL Training Zone is a digital learning environment that supports classroom and e-learning training.
It has just launched the "ICAO 2012 Flight Planning Modifications" e-learning module and an  "ICAO 2012 Flight Plan guide".

► ICAO 2012 Flight Planning modifications e-learning module

This module, applicable to the European flight planning system (IFPS – integrated initial flight plan processing system), provides a detailed description of the modifications to data exchange and to the procedures affecting flight planning systems (encompassing the flight plan message but also the associated messages) as a result of the ICAO 2012 changes.

It provides a description of:

  • the new data items;
  • changes to existing items and
  • a detailed description of the format or syntax of each item applicable as from 15 November 2012.

► ICAO 2012 Flight Plan guide

The Flight Plan Guide allows users to search for the correct format to be used for the different fields of the new ICAO Flight Plan via a database. The result will present for each item the correct syntax, description, remarks, linked fields and the possible IFPS errors. The current version of this guide dedicated to the European flight planning system (IFPS) is focussing on the fields impacted by the ICAO 2012 modifications (10a,10b and 18).
