ICAO Flight Planning modifications for 2012 - Detailed Specifications

Are you ready for ICAO 2012 flight plan changes?

Detailed Specifications

The ‘CFMU Interface Manual for ICAO 2012’ and the ‘CFMU 2012 Requirements’ provide a detailed description of the modifications to the data exchanges and procedures affecting CFMU systems as a result of the ICAO 2012 changes.
They describe the formats that will be applicable from 15 November 2012 onwards and fully implemented within the CFMU 16 software release in March 2012.
It should be noted that the format changes are only applicable to flight plan data submitted in New format.
Therefore during a transition period (see CFMU Deployment) ahead of the 15 November 2012 date, when both Old and New format may be accepted, different rules will apply depending upon the format used. A mixture of Old and New within the same flight plan will not be accepted.

The Interface Manual describes the changes from a users perspective whereas the Requirements document describes exactly the same changes but from a CFMU perspective i.e. the changes required to the CFMU systems.

The ‘IFPS & RPL Dictionary of Messages – ICAO 2012 Special Edition v2.001’ (DOM) provides an engineering description of the '2012 modifications' that will be fully implemented in the CFMU16 release in March 2012 and applied to all flight plans submitted in New format.

The Specification for OLDI provides the changes to the OLDI specifications as agreed by the ORAS Task Force.
