Summer 2010 Airspace Improvements
The Summer 2010 short-term airspace improvement plan includes 217 packages of airspace changes developed over the past year, each of which will contribute to improved performance of European Air Traffic Management. By the end of the Summer season, flying distances will have reduced by approximately 20 000 nautical miles each day, saving the airlines 40 000 tons of fuel and reducing CO2 emissions by 140 000 tons over a 12 month period.

Our mission and vision are: |
to proactively participate, along with other units and stakeholders in a network approach to ATM development; |
to actualize operational improvements within the European airspace network through a rolling airspace and navigation work plan; and |
our vision is to be the driver and main implementer of airspace network and navigational operational changes within the short-term (as key DMEAN contributor) and to provide airspace and navigation enablers both for SESAR and to the transition steps to SESAR. |

Flight Efficiency Plan |
| |
The implementation of the improvements foreseen in the Flight Efficiency Plan is expected to bring benefits evaluated at 470.000 tons of fuel/year, 1.555.000 tons of CO2/year, corresponding to almost 390 million Euro/year. |

ATS Route Network Version 6 |
| |
The ATS Route Network (ARN) Version 6 includes more than 400 Airspace Projects deployed over the period 2008-2010. They include more than 1600 route changes and more than 60 re-sectorisation projects. On a yearly basis and as from the full implementation of ARN V6, flying distances would be reduced by approximately 12 million NMs, i.e. saving the equivalent of 72000 tons of fuel, or 240000 tons of CO2 or 60 million Euros. |
