Air Traffic Management (ATM) Procedures

Who are we?

Air Traffic Management (ATM) Procedures is an activity within the Airspace & Flow Management and Navigation (AFN) Business Division of the EUROCONTROL Directorate for ATM Strategies.

The activity is supported by a team of 10 persons having expertise in ATM procedures in European ATM environment, as well as expertise in other regions in the world.

Initially, the ATM Procedures activity was established to provide appropriate support to the developments pertaining to airspace management and all its components and to navigation domain.

Currently, with the expertise gathered, ATM Procedures activity is providing support and is involved in the development of new concepts in ATM, especially at stages when these concepts are at the maturity level to permit pursuing an implementation.

Objectives

The objectives of the ATM Procedures are to provide to European ATM environment the appropriate harmonised means to support seamless operations in ECAC airspace.

In the context of the new concepts developed to overcome the potential shortage in capacity, ATM Procedures aims to provide the appropriate procedures to make the concepts working efficiently while maintaining or increasing the overall level of safety.
