Managing European Airspace and Enhancing Civil/Military Coordination |
One of the main challenges for aviation for the next decades is the creation of a continuum of European airspace for Air Traffic Management (ATM).
The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) States will first have to complete the widespread application of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) Concept. Then, they will have to extend the FUA to the Lower airspace and finally to enhance the FUA through a more dynamic airspace management process.
The ECAC States will also have to improve their national collaborative civil/military airspace policy and planning to increase airspace sharing. Subsequently, they will have to harmonise Airspace Management rules with neighbouring States on a sub-regional basis, and progress towards pan-European airspace planning.
