This document provides an overview of the Free Route Airspace developments taking place at European ATM network and local level.

The effective implementation of more than 500 (five hundred) ATS route network improvements deployed through the ARN Version 6 between January 2008 and December 2010 indicate an overall potential reduction of the route extension as a result of airspace design improvements of approximately 11 800 000 NM , this representing potential savings of approximately 71000 tons of fuel, or reduced emissions of 240000 tons, or 60 million Euros.

The ARN Version-7 Catalogue is a snapshot of the airspace projects deployed over the period
2011-2014 and contains, at this stage, 470 (four hundred and seventy) improvement packages.
As from the full implementation of ARN Version-7 in 2014, flying distances would be reduced by approximately 12 million NMs, this representing the equivalent of 72000 tons of fuel saved, or reduced
emissions of 240000 tons, or 60 million Euros. Updated information on the 2011-2014 projects can be accessed through the RNDSG/RDGE On-line Route Planning Database or the RNDSG OneSky Teams website.

The Airspace Concept for 2015 refers to airspace configurations and their management, at network, regional or national level. The Airspace Strategy describes how the concept will be achieved using 35 Strategic Steps.

This document details the operational concept of the Advanced Airspace Scheme (AAS) as agreed by the Route Network Development Sub-Group (RNDSG), a sub-group of the
Airspace and Navigation Team (ANT).

This document endorsed at the 4th meeting of ECAC Transport Ministers on ATS in Europe (MATSE/4) on 10 June 1994 enables the ECAC States to confirm their commitment to adopt the FUA Concept.
