Which Flight Plans must you send to the CFMU, Initial Flight Plan Processing System? |
Any flight plan with an Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) component (IFR/GAT or IFR/VFR) within the Initial Plan Processing System (IFPS) airspace.

When to File flight Plans? |
- FPLs MAY be filed 5 days before Estimated Off Blocks Date
- FPLs MUST be filed 1 hour prior to departure unless Air Traffic Flow Capacity Management (ATFCM) measures are in effect, then they MUST be filed 3 hours prior to departure

How does the CFMU process your flight plans? |
Aircraft Operators send the Flight Plan (FPL) to the IFPS:
- Which acknowledges receipt
- Processes the data
- Stores it in the CFMU database
- Sends and distributes the information to the Air Traffic Control and Capacity Managment (ATC) units which will be concerned with the flight

Fligh Plans (FPLs) containing errors or inconsistencies are referred for manual processing by an Initial Flight Plan Processing System (IFPS) operator, who will handle each individual case according to specified procedures and may refer back to the originator if appropriate.

Flight Plans may be submitted to the IFPUV dedicated test system via the Network Operations Plan (NOP) Public Portal, and then selecting 'IFPUV' from the Tactical or PreTactical phases. For more information on the IFPUV, please consult the FAQ related to the IFPUV.

Initial Flight Plan Processing System (IFPS) Manual contains all the Procedures and information necessary for operators to be able to construct, transmit or when necessary correct, flight plan and and associated update messages.
