CFMU14 Quick Start guide for Airspace Users

The main benefits of CFMU14 can be summarised in five major points:

1- Improving the CFMU interfaces with Flow Management Positions

Objective: Efficient Collaborative Decision Making (CDM)

Two new functions are introduced in both the CHMI application and the NOP Portal:
- The remote update of ATFCM data and parameters by the Flow Management Positions (FMP) directly into the application,
- The detection of deviating flights in order to improve the assessment of the Traffic Complexity or to monitor flights.

2 - Assisting Airspace Management Cells in setting up the Update of the Airspace Use Plan (AUP/UUP)

Objective: One more step in Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA)

This new function supports the AMCs in elaborating the update of the Airspace Use Plans (UUP) after the publication of the CRAM, while ensuring that the data are properly disseminated to all stakeholders.

3 - Identifying opportunities for re-routing and improving flight plan consistency

Objective: Support to flight efficiency

Airspace users are now notified of flight re-routing opportunities resulting for instance from the opening of conditional routes (CDR2), or from cancelled restrictions. These opportunities are disseminated via the publication of the EAUP (European Airspace Use Plan) and of the e-AMI message.

Several enhancements are also applied to the Flight Planning process:
- to improve flight plan consistency
- and to allow the generation of Direct Route sections when proposing new routes (both accessible via the NOP Portal and the B2B Web services).

4 - Delivering Airspace Data Repository (ADR) new functions

Objective: Enabling optimisation of flight planning

ADR now delivers more dynamic information to airspace users when changes occur in airspace usage and route availability. This allows aircraft operators to identify and select their preferred route option based on the latest Airspace Management decisions.

5 - Extending the CFMU B2B Web Services

Objective: Enabling interoperability between partners in operations

The two initial services (Flight Planning validation and Route assistance) are now in general availability.

Three new services are introduced in pilot mode today,
- The publication of eAMI (access to the consolidated European AUP/UUP) messages,
- The AIM (Air Traffic Flow Management Information Message), and
- The ANM (Air Traffic Flow Management Notification Message) which announces the ATFCM regulations.
