Information Management (IM) - Strategic guidance in support the execution of the European Master Plan

The SESAR Definition Phase has lead to the ATM Master Plan, which will structure the future of ATM in Europe over the next decades. The execution of the Master Plan and how to achieve set targets will be described in the "Strategic Guidance in Support the Execution of the European Master Plan".
The Strategic Guidance also consolidates the 13 existing EUROCONTROL Domain Strategies and their alignment with SESAR. The Strategic Guidance in narrative essence explains the “why and how” behind the Master Plan.

The Strategic Guidance must be seen as necessary material to support the execution of the European ATM Master Plan in the fields of:

- Performance Strategy (Key Performance Areas)
- Network Strategy (Airport, Airspace, ATFCM and ATC)
- Information Management (AIM, SWIM)
- Infrastructure (CNS, Spectrum and ATM systems)

The Strategic Guidance on Information Management specifies how the Information Management (IM) network consisting of stakeholders and systems will evolve—from an operational IM perspective—to implement the SWIM concept and satisfy the strategic IM performance needs. The Strategic Guidance also specifies the changing IM rules, roles and responsibilities as well as (in general terms) requirements for the ATM Infrastructure needed to support Information Management.
